Breaking Out of the Rectangle

For the last 40 years, human-computer interaction has been confined to glowing rectangles. First desktop monitors, then laptops, then smartphones, and finally smartwatches. The screens got smaller, but the paradigm remained the same: a flat, 2D window looking into a digital world.

Spatial Computing shatters that window.

Devices like the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest bring the digital world out of the screen and into your physical environment. This is a monumental shift. As UX designers, our canvas is no longer bounded by a 1920x1080 pixel grid. Our canvas is now a 360-degree, three-dimensional reality.
