For a long time, website speed was perceived merely as a " checkbox " in a technical audit. But in 2021, Google officially introduced Core Web Vitals (CWV) as a ranking factor. Google no longer measures an abstract " time to first byte. " It measures the User Experience.
Analogy (Restaurant): Imagine you arrive at a restaurant.
- How quickly did they bring you the menu? ()
- Did someone try to pull the chair out from under you as you were sitting down? ()
- How quickly did the waiter respond when you raised your hand? () If even one aspect fails, you'll leave a bad tip. Google evaluates websites the exact same way.
